Face recognition

How it works

Face recognition works via the inbuilt camera on the device. As soon as a request is made to capture the customer’s face for verification purposes, the camera on their device turns on and the customer is requested to agree to an image of their face being taken.

One to many checks

The image is then sent to a server, where it is compared against an existing database or one that has newly been created by your company, to see if the face is unique. The face check is always on a 1:N basis, which is a “one to many check”. The face data is never stored on the device.

Stopping multiple account fraud

Using this “one to many check”, it will always be possible to confirm that the individual is a unique user and has not attempted to open any other accounts using the same face.

KYC

When combined with other checks such as voice recognition and document verification it becomes a very useful tool to help with KYC and anti fraud issues.

The whole process can be conducted automatically so that the customer self serves on any device.

Cross platform

It is possible to add a face on an android device and immediately us that face on a PC to log in to an account. The face data is cross channel.

Use cases

Banking

A fear for most banking customers is account takeover. We have been asked by one online bank to add faces of customers to their on banking account to provide additional security to prevent account takeover.

Replacing dongles and passwords

A large health service provider has problems with doctors and nurses being able to remember passwords when accessing patient records. Due to the fact that the regulations on data protection are so strict, the Doctors and nurses have to use a different new password every month. This causes sever problems for them when on a busy ward remembering their new password every time they need to access a patient record.

By using just the doctors standard user ID and a camera on the PC that captures the facial image, there is no need for them to now remember any password as their face is their new password and they can log in in the same amount of time as it took them to type in their old password.
